In 1980, the border outpost was visited by a world-famous engineer of small arms, the inventor of the legendary Kalashnikov assault rifle, Mikhail Kalashnikov. Together with the officers of Liiküla border outpost, he hunted wild boars in the surrounding forests.
Today there is an exhibition about Kalashnikov’s stay at the outpost and the history of the invention of the legendary rifles.
